Exhaust Manifold Gasket ???

Guys just about to change my manifolds and just want to confirm that this is the right gasket,just wondering why there is a gap in the gasket,not joined in the middle

The gasket you need should look like number #8 in the below exploded diagram:

Ayuh,.... Are Fel-Pro gaskets available on yer side of the pond,..??

If so,... Order up a set of Fel-Pro 1404,....

They're the Cadillac carbon metallic gaskets,...
Put 'em on clean, 'n dry,...

'n clean the paint off the gasket surfaces of the manifolds,...

These gaskets came with the manifolds from Volvo why they not joined in the middle ???

Being that it's for exhaust fumes does it really matter if it's missing?

Both of those inner channels carry exhaust gases, so no need to separate them.

I prefer to not have exhaust pulses mixing so close to the cylinders, especial 5 and 7. It's harmless on our engines since they don't exceed 5000 and don't spend much time there anyway. My reasoning is exhaust pulses should come together at the same place in the exhaust system to facilitate the scavenging effect exhaust has on overlap time. However I have found no harm done with those.
