My exhaust manifold is getting hot in one small area, so hot that it will boil water. The location is on the top of the manifold, way over where it meets the head---dead center with the middle of the carburetor. It happens only in a small 2" area, dead center on the manifold. The paint is darkened in that spot also. It will boil water if a small amount is sprayed or dribbled on that area. It is not leaking exhaust. I was told by my uncle that it is normal. It is the only area on the entire engine (especially the manifold) that gets that hot. Is this ok?

Re: Exhaust Manifold getting too hot

Are you talking about right where the exmanifold contacts the head, or on top of the riser?
Right against the head they do get very hot. Easily as hot as you describe.
No part of the riser should get that hot
