Exhaust Manifold Sealer or no sealer

Changing the exhaust manifold & risers tomorrow if the weather stays dry,do I need to put any sealant on the exhaust manifold,

Ayuh,.... What gaskets ya usin',..??

I use the carbon metallic type, rather than the green paper style,...

Perfectly CLEAN castin's is Way more important than any sealers,...

I put mine together Clean, 'n dry,...

Bought all origanal Volvo exhaust manifolds & risers they come with gaskets and studs and nuts.

Volvo has changed their gaskets and instructions a few times. The gasket kits almost always come with instructions. Didn't you get them?

I am about to do a similar job on my engine, gaskets, risers and manifolds purchased a few weeks ago. On inspection I notice the instructions included with the riser gaskets are dated 2008 and specify no gasket sealer to be used!
After a long search for the recommended product I found loctite do the same product, but not in the UK. Nearest I can find is the link below.

On inspection I notice the instructions included with the riser gaskets are dated 2008 and specify no gasket sealer to be used!

Instructions have changed since then.

Is the Permatex line available,..?? if not, what is,..??

I don't do much at All with Volvos,...

Merc's carbon graphite gaskets go on Dry,...

This is from the instructions that come with the risers

Change to Procedure:
Before installing a riser gasket, coat the mating surfaces of
both the manifold and the riser with a copper-based, heatresistant
gasket compound.
Examples:
Permatex Copper Spray-a-Gasket? (80697)
K&W Copper Coat? (401612)
Aerosol or brush-on applications are both acceptable.

Didn't the link I posted work? It is already in the UK and sounds like the same product as the Permatex. I checked the MSDS and they both seem to be very similar in content.

I have ordered from eBay,but my local Volvo dealer is looking into the matter,will keep you posted
