Hi,
Does it matter where the raw water hose hooks up to the exhaust manifold? I have bought a used boat with a rebuilt motor and the water hose goes from the t-stat housing to the bottom portion of the manifold. All the other mercruiser Ive seen have the raw water hose going to the top portion, or the head of the manifold.

I was just wondering if it was hooked up wrong? The boat hasn't been in the water yet.

Boat = 79 searay mercruiser 260 (sb chevy 350 5.7)

Thanks in advance

Re: Exhaust manifold

Ayuh, ya it Matters...
It depends on Which manifolds are used, 'n Which T-stat housing is used...

That was probably log manifolds originally,...
No tellin' who, or how it was converted to center risers...

incase anyone is wondering about the PS pump, I replaced it with a electric unit out of a Toyota MR2 and is mounted neatly out of view.

Re: Exhaust manifold

I'm sure others will follow, but..........

looks like an automotive carb, the Toyota P/S pump probably isn't coast gaurad approved, can't tell about the distributor, and don't know if those are Mercruiser manifolds...........

gee thanks! The carb is a marine Q-jet #17059288, the dissy is a Mallory (fully sealed) that is original to the boat, and the manifolds are OSCO. The PS pump is probably not coast guard approved.

So now after you felt the need to critique my boat....are you able to answer my original question?
