hello, been hanging around the force, chyrsler forum for a few years now I picked up a 1968 mark twain with an inline six [ 2427469] this motor runs absolutley fantastic, my problem is come to find out the exhaust manifold was full of rust chunks and pretty much clogged up. I removed the end caps and cleaned the snot out of it put it all back together and have a few leaks so its time for a new manifold, my question is will a 165 hp manifold fit my 160hp mercruiser thanks don

Re: exhaust manifold

I don't think so, maybe a later model 160. The 160's have a weird cooling system with the thermostat in the stern end of the manifold and several extra water lines. At least the 2/3 piece ones.

Re: exhaust manifold

cr2k, thanks for the reply well i guess i was hoping for the best it seems the manifolds for the 165 are more readily available than the 160s, this cooling system has the basic water lines, the one that comes from the outdrive to the thermostat at the front of the engine to the engine water pump then thru the block then to the manifold and out, the manifold no thats on there is 38981 havin some difficulty locating one any ideas where to possibly locate one thanks don

Re: exhaust manifold

If not here on iboats (do a part number search) try ebay or NAPA.
