does this mean that I'm likely to have engine block rust-through or close to it also?

No, but you need to replace the manifolds & risers.....;)

i guess the real question is why were the manifolds patched in the first place??

jb weld is a temporary fix - as suggested, replace the manifolds and risers

if the patch was to "repair" damage due to freezing, i would be suspect of the block having freeze damage too - unless someone replaced the block and cheaped out on the manifolds/risers

Re: Exhaust manifolds have been patched with jbweld, rusted through...

So I got into this again tonight, and I found the exhaust manifolds did indeed look to be cracked/repaired from freezing damage, and not rust through, like I'd thought. I can find no evidence of riser damage, or block damage, none.

Why would I need to replace the risers also if they don't show signs of damage? Or was this just an assumption that you guys made from my post?

Your OP said "rusted through". If the manifold was indeed rusted through, the riser would not be far behind.
But since you now say it's freeze damaged, and not rusted through, your risers may be ok. Do a thorough inspection with a small mirror, flashlight and decide.

I would buy the kit and replace risers and all..They rust from the inside.

Just be happy the engine block is not cracked!;)

Yup, we can only give advice on what info you give us, especially when ya don't post pics......;)
I would still replace the risers, a bad riser can cost you an engine, roll the dice.......;)
