Hello all,

A quick question for the experts, if i am seeing next to no water coming from the exhaust relief while running on muffs is this something i should investigate? There is a small amount of exhaust gas coming from there but i was of the opinion there should be some water with it, am i right or wrong? Tell tale stream is good n strong. The motor in question is a 1982 60hp 2cyl E60TLCNM.

Don't think you should, I'm pretty sure you'd only see it under high RPM conditions.

If you ran your motor in a barrel, you would see water and exhaust coming out of those holes. On muffs, probably not too much coming out. The exhaust has two places to come out either around the prop or the exhaust relief holes and the exhaust comes out where there is the least pressure.

You generally won't see water from the exhaust relief until the thermostat is open (unless you rev the engine and then get the high speed bypasses to open up)...

Thats a relief! :) I was running on muffs yesterday to test out my newly installed thermostat and pressure valve when i noticed this so thought i would ask. I will now head to the boat ramp and check it out in the drink.

Thank you gents.
