Exhaust shutters 3.0L Mercruiser

Hello Everyone. Just going through all the maintenance stuff, and since I have to replace the gimbal bearing and bellows, I decided to check the exhaust shutter. Low and behold, it's gone. Just the rod where it used to be. So.....

1. Did this hurt anything when it burnt up? And what damage can not having it cause?

2. My engine Serial number is :B523519. Which kit would I need to buy to replace it. I don't see any numbers on the ones here on the site.

Ayuh,.... Goin' onto, 'n off from the wagon, as well as if yer runnin' along, 'n ya chop the throttle to quickly, the backwash of water can run up the pipe, into the cylinders, causin' hydro-lock, bendin' a connectin' rod, or two,....

Other that, no big deal,....
