74, merc three piece exhaust pipe V8, anyone got the secret to remove the three socket head cap screws without removing engine?<br />Special mod. wrench or point of access. one bolt tucked in behind bell housing.

Well,...... That's Usually done with the Engine Out........<br /><br />Getting it Out is going to be Tough......<br /><br />I'm Guessing,..... Putting it Back Together is Probably going to be Impossible.......

Leave it out!....(Shutter) Don't kill the engine at full throttle & beach it!.....I would not sweat the fact that it fell of.....& I will guess that your performance has improved with it removed from your drive.....I would not worry about it until I had to remove the engine for other reasons.....JK

except for the fact its not located there .if your referrring to the "exaust flapper" it should be at the second junction

Have you looked in the LU and took the exhaust boot off and looked in there? The usually get caught in the bellcrank area of the bell housing or the around the carrier.

Took leg off found flapper in exhaust port of transom ring.
