Exhaust tube fit?

Just finished up with my lower unit maintenance. Used an exhaust tube instead of the bellows. With the drive down, there's a gap of about an inch between the end of the tube and the bellhousing flange. Doesn't seem right. Also doesn't seem like it would do anything except make more noise...

Ayuh,.... It directs the flow, not seal the passages,.....

Figured that the flange would fit inside the tube to direct it through the prop. Doesn't seem like it would do much of anything otherwise.
