Exhaust very loud is this normal

My 1974 Evenrude 50hp has a very load exhaust note to it much louder than my 70 hp.<br /><br />At full throttle it is very loud and i just want to make sure that it's normal for it to be this loud or if there is something that is bad i need to replace. <br /><br />My 70 hp evenrude is no where near as loud at wot so it just got me woundering<br /><br />thanks

In the water, you should notice no difference in the exhaust noise.

it's alot louder in the water than the 70, is there somthing that could cause this

Are these motors on the same boat and set at same depth and tilt? Does water reach same point on both motors?
