Hi,
I have a 1993 Mercruiser 4cyl - 140 Alpha One 3.0LX. I noticed the water shutter was missing from the exhaust elbow. I only use the boat in a lake, so what's the consensus on needing to replace this part? Am I safe without it?
Thanks!
Ron

Where did it go? Take a good hard look when you have the drive off....The exhaust shutter is only really necessary when you shut the engine off under extreme conditions....However they are so cheap that I would replace it....JK

It's Hard Enough to make good power with a marine engine,...........
It's Really Tough,.. When the Exhaust is Blocked................................. ;)

The exhaust shutter is a LOT cheaper than a new engine.
Do You Feel LUCKY? :D :D

PS: There is No difference in the shutters between lake, river, or salt water boats. They all have them.
