Guys,
Has anyone used "Signature" brand paint? I spoke with the guy who developed it (Tom Fabula). Says it works well below the waterline and can be tinted. Also, roll and tip is the preferred method of application. The paint is an acrylic urethane enamel. Any help would would be very much appreciated. For the curious here's the link.

Yea, Me neither,
Saw it on one of those DYI Web sites. The guy seems very knowledgeable. He spent a great deal of time with me, and answered all my questions. I'm certainly no expert, but he seemed to be one. I gave him the size of my boat and he figured the amount of paint and priced it all up. The price was reasonable, less than $300.00 for my 17 footer's hull.
I am hoping that others on this forum have had some experience with this product. Seems like something to look into further.

Thanks
Ed

not sure about about that brand name but i used interlux brightsides on my 15 foot tri hull and it cost me around 100 bucks for primer and paint. and things are more expensive in canada. lol. i used the roll and tip method myself. just my two cents worth.

the price was based on a "guesstimate" of 200 sq.ft. we talked about many things, so I don't remember the exact cost. I think it was 258.00. I don't mind paying a little extra if their claim of no blistering or peeling below the water line is true. It can also be tinted, which is something I want to do
Thanks

The yellow part of the hull in the picture below was painted with two coats of Interlux Perfection paint. I bought a gallon (4-two part quarts) of Perfection and a gallon of two part primer. I ended up using half of the paint and little more than half the primer.
The total cost was $240 for paint and $70 for primer. ($310 total) If you cut that down to the actual amount I used the cost would be around $200 for paint and primer. (estimated)
The approximate square footage is 24'X4'=96'.
What's my point? Interlux, Awlgrip, Pettit are all nationally known, proven, paint brands. The local reputation of a smaller paint producer would have to be impeccable for me to use it considering it costs about the same. (more if you consider the kits they offer ie. 50sq. or 400sq.)

I am not trying to turn you off to trying thier paint. It could be much better than what I used. I just wanted you to consider all the factors. If you use it, I would love to see how it turns out and get a review of how usable it is. (easy tinting is a BIG plus)

I used it on my 30' Intrepid last year and was very happy with the results. It is very user frendly and help is just a phone call away. My gelcoat match was perfect. The fact that you don't need a primer saves time, money and a lot of extra labor. I give it 5 stars.

Thanks for the reply! I've searched the Internet on this paint, and I have not found anything but positive things.:) Did you use it below the waterline?
Thanks, Ed
