Hello, I bought a 1990 9.9 high thrust 4 stroke kicker with electric start (no electric trim or tilt) recently that the previous owner was in the midst of converting from remote controls to a regular tiller. What I didn't realize is that I have no way to start the motor now other than the emergency rope, but even then, it still doesn't want to fire because I am assuming it requires "something" to be plugged into the 7 pin harness coming off the front of the motor. So, I am looking to find out what I can hook up to this 7 pin harness, and what each of the wires are for. I'm assuming I won't need to use all of them.
I should also point out that while there are 7 pins at the harness connection itself (outside the motor), there are only 6 wires inside the motor where it connects to various other wires at a junction box of sorts inside. The wire colors are:
red
yellow with red tracer
brown
white
black
green
I will either have to wire up an ignition key (which I will need to learn how to do too), or, figure out how to "finish" the tiller conversion so I just have to push a button on the front of the motor to start it.
