Somebody on this board has one right? 94 2wd, just replaced rotors with new wheel bearings...how tight do I tighten the retaining nut? Old one was just tight enough to take the slop out but was wondering if anybody knows the actual specifications. Held in position with slotted crown and cotter key...

Put hands at top and bottom of tire after putting back on and wiggle it while you tighten the nut untill you can not wiggle it anymore and then turn the nut where the lock will go back on with pin in it and you will be fine. If you tighten to much you will cause the bearing to overheat and force all the grease out of it. Kinda shadetree style, but always worked for me. :D

Another method is to tighten the nut while spinning the tire until you can't spin it anymore. Back off the crennelated nut just to where the holes line up and put the cotter pin in. This seats the bearings and allows for later heat expansion.

Took a road trip to the lake for some fishing and adjusted the bearings while hot( took all the play out). Seems to be fine, drives good, stops well, without any shimmy or shake. Thanks all!
