Re: Extended warranty?

Three year merc warranty is pretty good. FYI, my larson has a 5 to life but merc only covers the first two years and then larson picks up the tap if something goes wrong. (So they say. I havent found out yet. Knock on wood) But....when they were going through bankruptcy I called up mercruiser to see if I could extend my engine warranty through them and they gave me the option of another year, 2 year...up to an additional 5. So, I guess I would wait until right before the warranty expires and then call merc to see if you can extend at that point. Save the $1600 for something you will enjoy right now.

Re: Extended warranty?

Extended warranties are really insurance policies, and are designed to make money for the issuer, not the buyer. In other words, the odds are that you will not recoup the cost of the warranty.
