I was told that there is a shaft extension kit for my 6hp mercury. Now I am told that the shaft extension kit (5 inch) is for a 20 inch. Can anybody verify this? Looking at the construction, they may be right - the lower housing does not unbolt above the cavitation plate. It is one piece all the way the the power head (I think).
Its a great motor, but should have had a longer shaft for this application.
