Hi all,

Im looking for a motor for my bass boat and i found a reasonable priced mid 80s mercury 150 for sale. Motor runs great and starts right up. My only concern is that the motor requires an external pump for the trim/tilt. I had a 1995 force 120 that had the internal trim/tilt pump so i dont have an external pump to hook up to it.

At first i thought i could just simply buy any hydrolic pump but it seems that there is 2 wire or 3 wire. 2 hose or 4 hose. Varrying psi ratings. It seems like i have to be very specific with which pump i buy. Reasearching the topic, i found no real difinitive answer to what pairs with this motor.

My question is what pump would i have to buy? Does anyone have a part number that would have been for this type of setup. Aditionally, i see some aftermarket pumps at

Anyone ever use the above aftermarket pumps instead on trying to track down an old oem part?

While im at it, does anyone know if this external pump system does both trim and tilt or just tilt. It always nice to trim up a little when on plane in a bass boat to get a few extra mph. Not sure if thats possible with this type of system.

Including a picture of the motor just in case mid 80s 150hp isnt specific enough. I dont have a serial number or exact year. Sorry

That looks to be a 1st generation 2L. I would add a few coins and get a later model motor. If you do decide to try this one dont pay over $500-700 for it and make sure you get matching control box
