OK, I bought the water pump rebuild kit and L/U lube for my motor. I have my spare rags and tools (12 footer's post entitled "Lower units 101" was a big help).
But before I start this, I thought I would get a few tips from the pros on additional items I should have on hand before getting started.
Specifics for the engine: Mariner 150, model# 7150725 serial# 6637205 (1984???)
In addition to the above items, what else should I get before pulling the L/U???
Do I need to replace the nuts that hold the L/U on or are these reusable?
Is there a L/U gasket set I should get?
Do I need any “LocTite” or special lube/grease for installing any of the parts?
Do these gaskets swell or do I need any "Liquid Gasket" on the suface?
Do I need any specialty tools or are the basics going to get the job done?
Any other last minute suggestions or a link to a similar post would be greatly appreciated.
I do have a Clymer manual, but want to make sure I'm not missing anything.
Thanks
