Extra Wires Coming Out of the Control Box

Exiting out the bottom of the throttle control box, which includes the ignition switch and kill switch, are four wires about 4' long, which indicates to me that they went to the dashboard of the original boat.

The wires are colored orange, purple, black and red/blue. I assume, without opening the control box, that the orange and purple are for the overheat buzzer (missing), but I cannot figure out what the red/blue and black are supposed to go to.

If anyone can help, I would appreciate it. Right now, I have the terminals of the four wires taped up so they won't short out. If the wires are in any way associated wtih a Tachometer, I would like to add one to help diagnose future problems.

According to a Force rigging and installation manual I have:
red/blue: 'switched' 12 volts (ignition power)
black: ground
...and you're right about the others:
Purple: tach (signal)
orange: overheat buzzer
Keep us posted on what you're hook up yields.

BP1,

Thanks for the information. Tomorrow, I will hook up my multimeter, which has a frequency function, to the purple and black and see what it says.

I will try to get to Radio Shack tomorrow when I head out for the Thursday night races and see if they have a 12 volt piezo buzzer for the overheat. I don't want to load up the sensor, as I don't know what amperage it can carry.
