Lately it seems there have been an increase in the number of rather odd electrical issues involving switches, trolling motors, and stereo system installations. Various responders have had to question the OP to great lengths in order to get specifics. Continually questioning an OP in an attempt to gather information is very time consuming, So here goes folks:

If you expect to get your problem resolved in a reasonable amount of time, how about helping us help you. You can do that by giving us exact Model numbers, serial numbers, and even pictures of the item you are inquiring about. History of the problem helps. Telling us you have a MinnKota or Motor Guide trolling motor is not of much help since there are dozens of versions -- just this year. And they include 12 volt, 24 volt, and 36 volt variations as well as electric steer, cable steer, and tiller steer, auto pilots, etc. Before you jump to the forum at least take a stab at figuring out which system you have. Remember -- we cannot see your boat. Another example: telling us you have a double pole double throw switch is helpful if you are having an issue with it, but also include the little nugget that this switch also has an indiator light. We get frequent questions about stereos in which the OP says they are familiar with car wiring but boats seem to be different. No they aren't. But again it helps to know what stereo, what boat, what amp, how much power, how many speakers, etc are involved. Just like a trip to the doctor -- they can't help you unless you indicate where it hurts and what you did that may have caused the owie. That's why they always ask for a list of the medications you take.

Having to literally drag information from an OP is tedious and it makes posts extremely long and hard to keep track of where we are in the process of solving the problem.
