what is the best wood type to replace bunks and is it necessary that new bunks have same curve as the old ones or will
they curve naturally after a while ?
thanks

Usually, with a curved bunk there is a center support that holds the curved shape. So, if you have 'curved' bunks (like a sailboat trailer or similar hull), you need to accommodate the curve before you secure the end points of the bunks to their supports.

If you got a picture or two that may help . . .
