I'm about to do a 200 hour service and plan to change the plugs. Can anyone recommend a spark plug and or give reason to use iridium versus standard that it came with? I believe the OEM was a NGK LFR6A11

Best to just stick with the Yamaha recommended plugs....no advantage in experimenting with other plugs....

Iridium plugs are mainly for long term durability. Go figure, in a car: Change interval, copper spark plugs- 30k miles, Iridium plugs- 100k miles. Copper is the Best conductor, by the way.

In a car or truck where it is a major act of congress to even get to some plugs, Iridium makes sense.

In an outboard motor where plugs can be changed in five minutes, IMO it is best to stick with regular plugs.
