I have a new to me 05 F115 4-stroke Yamaha. The water/fuel separator has a clear housing that threads off with a filter at the top and what looks like a red float at the bottom. I assume if the float is floating that means there is water...correct?

If I dump the fuel/water out should I add fresh fuel back in the housing before screwing it on?

Finally how often should this filter be changed?

Thanks for your help!

Re: F115 water/fuel separator

if its floating dump it and clear the rest of your fuel system.
change the filter yearly or every 100 hours, more if your fuel system is contaminated.
if its floating, yours is.
no real need to refill it, the fuel pump or primer bulb will.

Thanks for the quick reply! It's not floating so I'm good...just wanted to clarify that's how it works.
