Are there any alternative brands of oil filters for the F150 4-stroke? Brands and numbers? Fantastic engine but the Yamaha filters are pretty costly! Thanks
I have the same motor and the dealer replaced the filter and oil on my 20hr break in check. The next filter and oil change is on my dime also.

Amsoil has some marine oil filters. They are also pricy but they sell good quality stuff.

http://www.amsoil.com/storefront/sdf.aspx

I would guess it is possible that if you brought the motor in for service and they saw a clone filter on the motor you may have some warranty issues to worry about.

I have not checked around yet for alternatives but am confident you will find outboard filters to be more expensive than your standard auto oil filter because of it's marine application.

Beware of bargains in parachutes, life jackets, fire extinguishers, .......... and oil filters.
CT,

I listed severalfilters that are replacements for the Yamaha filters on the F90.

Many of the filters are better than the denso filter Yamaha provides. Don't think they will have any possible ground to stand on if you need warrenty work and you have a Wix, Hastings filter on your engine.

No where does it say that you need to use only Yamaha filters or the waarenty is void.

I called Yamaha myself and asked if using Mobile one oil would void my warrenty. They said no.

As long as the oil is rated for or above the service ratings you can use it. I'm sure filters are no different.

Unless there is some proprietary protection provided by thir component they really can't cancel a binding agreement based on same or like product performnce.

Kid
