The temp control knob is turned all the way to cold but hot air blows out of the vents, even though the air conditioner is in good working order, i suspect the cold air vent is stuck shut.
How can i gain access to manually rectify this uncomfortable dilemma??

Sounds like the hot water valve is not closing.
It will be inline on one of the small heater hoses.
You will see a valve with either a cable hooked to it or a small vacuum canister sitting there.

If this valve does not close, then it just keeps letting hot water into your heater core and blows hot air where ever you have the control set.

Look for broken vacuum lines under the hood.

The "blend door" is vacuum operated. Without it, you'll get hot or cold air only.

No, it should be out under the hood where the 2 heater hoses are.

Is your unit switching from defrost to vent to floor ok?

Posted by SBN:"Is your unit switching from defrost to vent to floor ok?"

yes the selector for the ac,defrost and floor works fine.

Hi DJ, I did not see any broken or loose vacuum lines under the hood, i am quite certain that the blend door is somehow stuck, the service manual which i have does not show how to gain access to that part
