F150 yamaha 4-stroke speedometer not working..cleaned out lower tube??

Speeometer not working on F150 yamaha 4-stroke 2004. I thought it would work after I cleaned out the tube in the lower unit and still no speedometer, seems to have no restrictions up to the engine? What should I check next?

Could be a leak in the tube to the gauge. Or disconnect the tube at the motor and see if blowing into the tube will give a movement on the the gauge.Or pull the tube at the gauge and the motor and try blowing through the tube. It is most common for the port in the lower unit to get blocked especially in salt or dirty water. You may need to buy an aftermarket Pitot to replace the motor porting system.

Did you use a drill bit of the appropriate size, was their wood stuck in it? Times that they have been really stuck with wood I have had to take the gearcase off and fill the passage with oil and hydrolock it out. Fill it with oil and find a bolt or bit that fits in snug and tap it with a hammer until it clears the debris.
