F75 Flushing -tell tale flow very weak!

I have a F80 (Same as the US F75/F90 I think!) on my new boat. The engine is year 2000 and has been used in salt water.

When I connected the hose up to my F40 on my old boat the water came out of the tell tale under pressure, basically as fast as the hose was turned on.

On the F75 engine, with the hose full on, there is a very little pressure from the tell tale. There is a lot of back pressue at the hose as the connector leaks. There is some water running out of the lower leg as expected. There seems to be alot of restriction going on somewhere in the engine.

Should the water exit the tell-tale under greater pressure, as per the F40? The very weak tell-tale flow, combined with the back pressure just doesn't seem right.

Cheers

Andy

Try submerging the prop in a drum and note any diferrence in the pressure at the indicator; if no discernable improvement, i suggest you repalce your water pump.

My F115 is erratic, sometimes it pees, other times it just dripples. What the hell do I know? Think I am wasting my time with the whole operation of flushing. Must admit it feels good seeing all that water flowing out the leg. Disclaimer, I am a bit down on YAMAHAS right now! Met a guy today who would never buy another SUZUKI of MERCS. so there are all opinions out there. FRED

Thanks for the replies guys.

The motor pumps great when running with the leg in the water so I'm assuming the water pump is basically doing it's job.

When flushing on the hose I would have thought that the water exits the tale tale after going round the head and wouldn't depend on the water pump which would be stationary as the engine isn't running.

Can anyone else report back on flushing a mid range motor on the hose?
