I changed the oil on my year 2000 F80 last weekend and it came out emulsified, milky white looking.

I bought the boat in December and had a problem with the the pre-purchase surveyor running the motor and getting sea water in it. The local Yamaha dealer got the motor running again. I did a further sea trial before I bought the boat and all appeared well.

I'm kicking myself that I didn't change the oil as a precaution after I got the boat home.

I have ran the motor every few weeks for 15 minutes or so over the winter up to the oil change last week when it came out emulsified.

I drained the oil today that I put in last week, after running for 1/2 an hour, and it was still quite milky.

I have changed the oil a further 2 times today and ran the motor at idle/fast idle for 1/2 an hour each time.

The last lot of oil came out look pretty much ok.

I'm planning to do another 2 changes before filling with the Yamaha oil before launching.

Is there a particular weight of oil I should use for clearing out the water? I have been using cheap supermarket oil of varying weights for these quick changes?

Should I get a flushing oil?

Also, is it likely that the motor will have terminal corrosion damage with this emulsified oil in it for 4 months, or will I maybe get away with it?

Cheers

Sorry, I just realised that it was fresh rain water that got into the engine and not salt water.

The Surveyor connected up a tank that was under water in a cockpit locker. It looks like water got in via the tank air vent that was open.

Cheers
