FACTORY or AFTERMARKET reeds

Just a quick question...in following another post, it seems like the majority favor non-metal reeds (aftermarket) as a step toward protection and performance by swapping them out. Since I'm mechanically capable, I'm still learning 2stroke outboards. Is there a simple inspection to visually see whether my engine has plastic or fiberglass, or the factory steel ones? Since my engine was purchased previously rebuilt, it is possible I may already have aftermarket reeds. Other than pulling the carbs and intake, what are my options? 1989 2.4 carbed

Re: FACTORY or AFTERMARKET reeds

Open the throttles and peek in. Metal reeds look like metal. Fiberglass reeds look like resin impregnated fabric, which is what they are.
