hello,

once again i have to tip my hat to the experts here on iboats!!! :D [lakester bows, tipping hat]

on their advice i sourced an oem factory parts book for my engine. $12.00 ebay w/shppg! this let me know what part numbers were correct for not only what parts, but for what engine series.

my head gasket supplier had a typo [as in error] in his computer. was about to supply me the head gasket for the larger engine series.

but i knew the part #, and checked it. his description was correct. but the # was wrong!!!

so he then pulled the correct part # upon my request. we overlayed the two. the incorrect part # was .020 +/- larger (as to be expected for bigger bore block). egg on their chin...

thanks to the iboats experts and their "on the $$$ advice"... I WAS AN EXPERT, too!! one was a bit less $ and they then honored the lower cost. :)

no doubt the .020 oversize  may have been overlooked upon installation. if u plan to work on your engine, but sure to also have the factory parts book, too, in addtion to the service manual. :)

"thanks fellas!!!" :D

regards
lakester

It always pays to have the right manuals!! So many people buy the service manual and overlook the opportunity to get the parts manual.

The exploded diagrams in the parts catalogs are very helpful to me as well.
