I need a factory service manual for a 1991-70hp evinrude so I went to ebay and typed it in. I found several "real service" manuals for that hp and year. However, they all covered 60-65-70-hp. My question is will this cover what I need to know or is there a manual specific to that hp and year?

Re: factory service manual?

This is probably the best buy or at least reference the part# for the manual you'll need.

http://www.outboardbooks.com/

Looks like at least the 60 and 70 have the same part#. Beware of "real" service manuals on e-bay. If they don't show you the cover picture and it doesn't look like an OMC product don't buy it. Not outrigt scams but a lot of misleading products are tried to pass for a factory manual. Clymer, Seloc ect will jus P**S you off if you try and use for any meaningful repairs.

I am aware of the "real service manual" scam. The one's I was looking at are actual omc service manuals.

Re: factory service manual?

I just bought one for my Johnson and it covered a 40hp, my 50hp, and a 55hp. In the online parts catalog for my engine it listed a part number for my factory service manual but it doesn't look like there is one listed for your engine.

Another choice might be to send a person on ebay a message asking them to check the manual to make sure your engine part number is listed as being covered. My manual had a page listing all the engines covered.

I have 4 OMC manuals...and they list different HP...mine is a 35...so the manual list 25..30..35....and when you come to a section say like carb...it has a section on 25..30..35 ....

so the manual your looking at may be the same..listing 3 simular HP..but have a section in each catergory for each HP....

I have a 1983-70hp that I bought from ken cook co and it cost me 78 bucks, plus shipping and it covers everything from the small outboards to the big one's. Anyway, I went to ebay and found several of what I was looking for and these are the actual manuals not reprints like his were. The good thing is I can "but it now" for about 25 bucks.

I am really happy with the price. I thought i was going to end up paying three times as much for one.

Re: factory service manual?

I have bought 7 manuals from the same guy on ebay , all were under $36.

they are slightly used to unused OMC factory manuals.

they all cover more than one HP motor.. but the motors are very similar motors of the same year...they share a frame or block or both.

I couldnt imagine a manual that covered just ONE motor for one year.

what manual did Ken Cook sell you cobvered every motor of one year???

whats the title of it?

good luck
