Hello, I recently bought a 1985 procraft to one fish out of but also to do a little restoration project. The boat is in decent shape minus a few fiberglass repairs ,new carpet ,ect .My big problem now is the Gelcoat is pretty much gone on about 90% of the boat and the boat feels rough to the touch and the paint is very dull from sunlight ,oxidation , ext .What would anyone recommend? Gelcoating again is to exspensive .Is there anyway to get the color back since the Gelcoat is gone and keep it's shine ? Thanks for any advice .

Sanding and buffing could be an option if the gel is not cracked or split.
Gel coat is very tough and thick. You would be supprised how much sanding it will take. Try wet sanding a spot, then buffing. I don't know what you mean by "gone" but it may come back.

First 2 with wool pad cleaning often.2nd two by hand.Pic shown in my bayliner thread. If that dont work wet sand and repeat.
