Failed bottom repair

I feel sick to my stomach. I crawled under my 1972 Mako17 today ( to check and admire my repair)and saw that it had cracked again. The crack is 4-5 inches to the left of the centerline and about 18-20 inches long.
I've had the boat in the water 20-25 times since the job was finished. I guess the rough water I encountered this week took it's toll.
I used West epoxy with filler and about 7 layers of cloth ( standard ) all sanded and properly prepped in between.
I do know that there was some water in the wood before the repair. I did open it up and let it air dry for 3 weeks. It wasn't completely dry, but it was much dryer than when I started. Time would not allow.
I noticed that there was a reddish brown color coming out of the crack, I'm pretty sure this is indicative of wet wood.
My questions are:
Can this repair be properly done without it being 100% dry and
Should I use a heavier cloth or woven roving or
Am I up a creek?

Yes,you had water creep into your repair. That red/brown color is telling me that you have some wood rot!Can you see from the inside of the boat to were your repair is?
Its got to be complete dry for any type of resin to work.Once you get it dry again, you might have to put in more support,or change out the stringer which is not given you any support were the crack is in the first place.

yep, I had the same thing. When I pulled the floor, I found the stringer in question was barely attacted to the hull, a huge crack in glass attaching the stringer to the hull, thus causing excessive hull flex. You'll need to find the root of your problem first, I suspect it's the rotten or cracked stringer/s in that area.

cheers

SliderM72, I think you need to change the setting on your photobucket account to allow linking to your pics. I can't seem to get the pic to display, as you can see from the IMG ubb code above. That one should have worked. Maybe the pic name is wrong?

You are "NOT" going to fix it untill the rot is repared first.
