This is happening just on muffs, and there is a backfire out of the carb.

If I accelerate very slowly then its fine, but if I give it moderate throttle it falls on its face.

I replaced the accelerator pump, twice, replaced all fuel filters, bent the accelerator pump arm a bit.

Also, if I set the timing to 8 BTDC, it definately does not run right, if barely at all. The way I marked the timing was pulled the #1 plug and turned the motor over by hand till the cylinder is all the way up and with the rotor pointing at the #1 cylinder or close to it.

I am pounding my head here! HELP

its 1978 120 2.5L, I think it has something to do with the carb. I am about to give up and have somebody fix it. Granted I call service departments and their excuse well we have X number of boats to fix, that is great, it would take 2 minutes to talk to a mechanic
