Can anyone help me out here...I have a 75 Mercury 150 inline 6 that runs fine on top end but I have trouble getting it to plane out when I hit the throttle it falls on its face. I can overrev the motor in neutral and then slam it into gear and it takes off; runs on full speed without missing a beat until I stop again and the same thing happens. I have had the carb adjusted and some timing work done recently but I don't know what to do about this problem. Any input would be helpful.

Thanks,

GMM

Rebuild the carbs - adjustments won't get the crud out.

Ditto Solittle. Your idle circuit is too lean, and takeoff from idle is suffering. It sounds like you already tried to adjust the idle but crud is still blocking the proper titration of fuel/air. Take the carb apart and rebuild it with special attention to the idle circuits.
