Hi all,
I am planning a trip to Emerald Isle NC and taking the boat. She is a 1982 Bayliner Capri 19' Volvo I/O 4 cyld. I would like some advice and safety tips for putting in at Beaufort and visiting Hawkers Island and Shackleford Banks. We would love to pull up to the shorelines, get out and wander a little bit. I have the basic safety supplies (no FM Radio or flares though) and I am comfortable with the mechanical workings of the boat. I will be packing spare belts, plugs, fluids, wires etc. I do not have a trim but a tilt outdrive that I have managed to get by with. My bilge pump is new and I made a portable backup pump that I can whip out if necessary. My Iphone has the Flytomap app and I have a good quality fishfinder and will buy a paper map. I tried the sound from Emerald Isle up toward Beaufort but found that too tricky so that is why we will put in at Beaufort. This is our first boat and have had it for about three years now and replaced just about everything bow to stern. I would appreciate any words of wisdom for a lake boater wanting to expand his horizons
Thanks!!
