First off, invaluable site! wished Al Gore would have invented the internet back when i was growing up working on our old farmalls. i have a Faria 8000 rpm tach with the numbers 1-4 on the back. my motor is a 1983 crossflow V4 90 hp. does anyone know what number to set the tach? i figure its a 12 pole motor. the only numbers on the tach are "A-2423-80-228 B". Thanks for replying in advance.

Set at the highest setting..idle it, makes sense, your fine. You can turn the switch while running. BUT, with only 4 settings, ya might not have a 12 pole setting (don't take thins as Gospel)..my 12 pole setting is number 6 I think (6 inline old Merc Stack)..play with it..

Thanks for the reply Scaaty, this is an actual response from Faria tech support:

"Use either # 3 or 4. I gues this is the trial and error meathod."

actual cut and paste response. i was looking for something a little more definitive i guess. maybe it's like you say, just try and see.
