FARIA TACHOMETER ON JOHNSON 70HP

Can anybody tell me how to connect a faria tachometer on a johnson 70hp 80model. Instructions tells you to connect the sender wire to the unrectified of the alternator. Any diagrams or help please ?

set switch on the back of tach to 6, connect + to swiched +, and sig. to connector on rear of omc control neg to ground, light to running light +

Thanks alot. Can you tell me where I find the OMC control? I am new on outboards and have no idea. Thanks again:$

the box that the throttle lever and gear shifter is the control, look just below the ignition switch there should be a black rubber cap pull it off and you will find a 3 hole plug, it would prob. be best to buy the plug from an omc dealer, wire the tach and then just plug it in.

You can identify the holes on that socket with a voltmeter...there will be: 1-tach (alternator output), 2-accessory power (battery voltage with key on), and 3-ground.
