Faria voltmeter

Hi all,
Have a Mariah 1996 with Fariah gauges. Noticed last year that the volt meter was not responding when rpm's were increased. First thought I had an alternator problem. Hooked my volt/ohm meter up to battery and voltage was responding as it should.

So, I suppose, something is not right with the Fariah gauge. Anyone know how to get this out of the confined area easily?

Thanks, appreciate all you guys

Re: Faria voltmeter

So did the console voltmeter show a charging voltage (above 12.6) or a discharge voltate (less than 12.6), nothing at all, or something other than above. A handheld meter is calibrated far more sensitive than the console meter. So what exactly was the console gauge doing or not doing.

Not familiar with your dash, but see if you can remove the screws holding the dash to the drivers console and then rock the dash out, hopefully they left enough slack in the wires so you can access the guages. It could be a solid dash, molded into the console too...

On the Faria guage, check out their website, they have a life time warranty on their guages. It cost me $30 for them to repair my dead tach, well,,, they actualy swapped it out for a new tach.

It could be something else causeing the problem, besides the guage, as ST was asking about...

Re: Faria voltmeter

Well, gauge shows around 12.5 when idling. When RPM's are advanced gauge goes to 12v or so. If I hook up voltmeter/ohm meter to aux outlet next to steering wheel, it starts around 12.6 and as RPM's are increased it goes up to around 13.5. If I turn on lights or blower with RPM it maintains the 13.5 voltage, so am sure alternator and regulator are working. Also seems that there is proper voltage to the power bridge at the helm.
