fast idle lever

does anybody know how to replace the fast idle lever on an omc control box? i broke mine and need to replace it. there is a nut holding it on, but it just spins when i try to loosen it. any help would be greatly appreciated!! it is on a 1986 ranger 330v with a 120 johnson, also 1986. this is the original control box with the boat.

Have you split the control box, yes or no ?

yes i have, and i can't see how to get to the bolt holding the nut!
