Fast idle, or lack thereof, Johnson VRO115 1988

This motor will not fast-idle on start-up. There is no manual control on my throttle/shifter. Is fast idle supposed to be automatic? Engine runs and idles great when after starting it about six times while fiddling with the push-in-key style choke, which seems to work fine. Engine is otherwise very powerful, clean, and trouble free. Thanks for being there...

Try pulling out on control handle, should disengage shifter, and only control throttle, after engine warm, handle in neutral position should snap in to shift and throttle position.

Thanks Clanton! I just checked it out and my Morse control works just like you said, I had no idea! I'll try that out on the water, I'm sure that's all I need. Thanks again!
