Faststrike 150 - what's this little hose thingy?

I believe it's a '98. I was just cleaning it up for the season and saw this little hose hanging down on the leg. It has a little gold coupler looking thing on the end and there was a hole juuuuust within reach so I stuffed it in there. I don't think that's where it goes. What is this thing and where does it go? See attached pic with little red arrow

Thats the speedo hose and a brass barb coupler....
