Trying to resurrect a 1964 Fastwin 28 for a fellow here locally. the motor sat for quite a while and when I put it in the tank, it wouldn't turn over. Soaked with penetrating oil and was able to pop it loose with a breaker bar.....turned over ok for that day. As I was getting his fuel system back in shape, the motor sat for a couple days....When I got back to it, same story...seized, but broke loose quickly...Basically each time the motor sets for a bit, it has to be broken free again. He doesn't want to do a full rebuild and my thought is that the crank bearings are causing my issues.....anyone have this issue? if he doesn't want to fix it, I will be tearing it down to satisfy my curiosity, but wanted to throw this out for any comments from this group...thanks...

Did you pour oil into it to help break it free and keep it that way?

Is he a friend or a customer?
If a friend, carry on....if he is a customer, you really need to strip it down to check the main bearings or pass on the job.

If it were mine I would open it up. If a customers, it is likely destined to fail eventually. I would pass on the job unless they want to go ahead and open up the crankcase.

I put oil in it after the first time. It is a customer motor, he will not likely want to spend the money to fix it correctly, but I will leave that decision to him. I am as far along as I will go without a full teardown. I appreciate the comments, they reinforce my thought process...

Did you try dropping the lower unit? Possible the LU is rusted up, not the powerhead.
