So, I weighed my truck with friends boat/trailer the other day. Came in at 7150lbs. Today I weighed the truck and trailer, came in at 4200 lbs.

That tells me the boat is about 2900lbs. The trailer it sits on, which was built in 1984(boat is an 85 model), has a rating of 2400lbs.

It would appear to be the original trailer with the boat, so what gives? I can't imagine they overload the trailer right away(though probably close to it), so where is the extra 500lbs being stored?

Water in the stringers, transom, and flotation???? + all the accessories on the boat, i.e. anchors, fuel, oil, safety equipment, ect, ect. It adds up fast.

you'd be totally surprized what dealer do to make a buck. just like you didn't discover this until 20 years after the fact. just recently , my sister bought a 23' Chris Craft deckboat and trailer, did'nt even adjust the bow stop, told them they need a 2" ball. come to find out it had a 2 5/16 hitch, when it came off, luckily no damage. they had pull the boat 200 miles from the dealer to home. we spent 2 day adjusting that trailer.
