Wow..lots of really nasty weather out of Hudson last Sunday...

We made it to a reef in 20' for bait and all this, includidng the waterspouts popped up south of us. Looked good West, so off we ran.

Lot's of bait schools, and the bite was on pretty good. Gags, reds and cobia were all available as well as a couple of big sharks. Cindy and I both had good hookups and both were cut off at the boat..

We came home with the cobia, a couple of gags and a nice red...all in all a great day on the water.

Re: Fathers Day trip..Hudson, Fl

Interesting- I don't see many posts about Hudson. I spent two vacations there in a house I rented on a canal down there. Took my boat both times and spent the week wandering around the area. Funny to go 20 miles offshore, beyond the site of land and only be in 30' of water...
I had a terrible time trying to find the reef piles out there- seems like they were about the size of a dinner table in my opinion- I'd see it on the graph and then nothing- shouldn't have been that hard.
I did manage to fins one area with nice returns and lots of marks. Set the rods out and in 5 minutes we caught two big triggers and a grunt. Had something hit that was pulling so hard I couldn't get the rod out of the holder- it bent the tip nearly to the water before the 60# leader snapped. Shark? Probably. Massive gag grouper? That's what I decided it MUST have been. LOL
Loved the area though. Fillman's Bayou was full of reds and sea trout and jacks and we caught a ton. Lots of fun.
The cabins out in the water were cool! Never saw those before. We loved Anclote as well- beautiful place to play.
