Feed back on a prop for a F150

I?ve recently re-powered my 1993 201 Mako from a 200 hp 2 stroke to a F150 four stroke. The original engine had no problems turning a 17? pitch Yamaha ?black steel? prop to the specified 5500 rpm at WOT. The new F150, however, is only getting 5100 rpm at WOT. Not really surprising when dropping 50 hp. I?m looking at several 15? pitch props which I assume will get me closer to the spec'd 6000 rpm WOT for the F150. I see that iboat advertises a 14 7/8? dia. 15? pitch Michigan Prop Ballistic Stainless Steel prop at a very reasonable price. I?ve heard of Michigan Prop before but have not read pros/cons nor formed an opinion. I?ve also been looking at a OEM Yamaha 15 1/4? dia. x 15? pitch Saltwater series prop. I?ve found this prop advertised on eBay at about double the Michigan prop?s iboat price. I?m not sure what differences there are between Yamaha?s Saltwater series and the ?black steel?. The dealer who installed the F150 is pushing a Yamaha ?black steel? 15 1/4? dia x 15? pitch prop but it is no bargain compared to what I?ve been seeing on line. Then there is Solas prop?s which, again, I?m not to familiar with.
I?m looking for feedback to guide me to make an intelligent decision.

As a reference point what prop are you presently using? Is the 5100 rpm trimmed all the way out?

You want to get the F150 as close to 6000 RPM or she will make oil. You have to get at least another 500 rpm, 600/700 would be better. I would start by getting the F150 mounted as high as possible. My F150 was delivered at the # 1 hole position and it operates much better in the #3.

Stay away from the Salwater series because their primary application is V6 225 HP and above.
Borrow or buy a stock Yamaha 15 pitch while you tweak the height. You can always use it as a spare but I have been very happy with it compared to a Turning point Hustler.

The black steel might not gain you as much as it is more agressive than the aluminum.

On the F150 you want to use the Yahama Reliance series.

That would be a good choice except Yamaha does not recommend the 15p for the F150, and that is where he will need to be if the numbers are right
