Fellow PNW-erners, wind storm damage?

Just figured I would ask my Pacific Northwest neighbors how they fared in that storm the other night. I woke up around midnight and thought the world was ending. I suffered no damage, but Spokane lost a lot of power, and trees went down right and left. I saw a fair amount of steel roofs half off in my area. Only thing that blew down at my house was my snow shovel, despite the 70 mph winds...

Look's like Custom is doing ok here, Jet's were scrambled to investagate a possible ufo @ 30,000 feet. Upon engagement they discovered he is safley returning back home, It has been reported that he was blown 300 miles from his home in Gold Beach...........

Actually we did experience very high winds, 70mph in some area's. While this is not very dangerous in itself we have a huge amount of tree's that do not experience any type of wind @ all.

When a wind of this strength comes along, you get tree's falling all over top's coming off making it like a flying debrie zone, very hazordus

235,000 without power in the portland metro group, i was without power for 48 hour's in the center of the metro, They estimate 1 million people in the northwest lost power, it was a very significant storm......... God's speed there Custom.

I have to cut down my apple tree today...the wind blew it into a window. That thing's gotta be over 100 years old...:/

Re: Fellow PNW-erners, wind storm damage?

I spent the last hour and a half of daylight, in the pouring rain and pounding wind, reinforcing a 100 feet of 4 x 4 post and cedar plank fence on my back property line. Sections of it were waving back and forth in the fierce chaotic winds.

I had to cut some long 2 x 2 diagonal supports, pound then into the soggy ground, screw them to the fence posts then pound in some supports for those diagonals (in the opposite direction) and screw them together.

I was both amazed and relieved, that come morning the fence was still standing. At one point I was trying to hang on to section of fence that had come loose, one minute the wind was trying to rip the fence out of my hand, the next, the wind was blowing right back at me.

Fortunately, other sections of fence had been rebuilt over the years using C posts were made of steel.

The other thing that I was concerned with was my Costco Boat garage cover. It came thru unscathed as well.

That wind just pounded all night long. Fortunately we have no trees adjacent to the house but there was plenty of debri scattered about from all the neighbors trees.

8) If you have one of those alum frame job's as i do, ill give ya a little hint. Just take some rope's run them around the top (rafter?) and tie them down to the boat, it will survive a hurricane ............mine just did......

No damage hear, except for potted plants blown around and over on front porch. Lights flickered a couple times, but didn't lose power. Stayed inside and spent the time drueling over some of the boats on Craigs list.
