Re: FF transom install
In general it should to 12 inches or more to starboard of the main engine. The transducer need to point straight down and on the deep side have at least 1/2 of the transducer below the depth of the hull. This will put the shallow side completely below the hull. Make sure it is not in a place that will hit the trailer when your load your boat. Also make sure not in a spot with hull stakes that will make bubbles and cause your depth finder not to work when on plane. Look over the back of the transom at speed and look for green water, the less air it has the better it will work at speed. For a right hand turn prop the starboard side is a little better but if you have a trolling motor then mount the tranducer on the side oppsite the trolling motor.

Last I would not drill any holes in the transom but instead mount some star board to the back of the hull flush with the bottom. Glue it on with silicone and mount your transducer to that. After you find a spot that works good you can remove and use some 5200 to mount or a screw or two if you think it is necessary. Mine has been mounted for more than 20 years with silicone and one of the old Pitot screws that was already drilled into the hull. I used silicone only so If I want to remove it is not that hard. With the star board when you later mount a speed sensor or second transducer you just do not need to drill holes into the boat. If it does not work good where you mount it you can move it again with out drilling into the boat.
