i have a flats boat that i just removed the marine carpet on the deck. it is made of fiberglass. i am looking to put some paint (non-skid) on it. what do i need to do to prep it? Or do I just buy some non-skid paint and use rollers. i saw on iboats marine store a product by evercoat non-skid and to put two coats. anyone try this? or recommendations? my dad mentioned having rhino lining like the bed of trucks.

Re: fiberglass deck paint?

After removing the carpet. I grinded all of the remaining carpet bits, glue, dirt, etc from the deck with an angle grinder (do this outside with a respirator and a tyvek suit). Then I put a fresh layer of mat and glass to replace any of the strength I may have grinded away.

I then put two coats of finishing resin on top which I plan to sand smooth. I will top that with the non-skid paint. I plan to roll on two layers of paint on smooth and then put the non-skid additive on the last coat.

Right now I'm getting ready to sand the topcoat layers and I will post some pics later tonight.
